Watsonia Neighbourhood House receives funding to engage paid staff for 30 hours per week in order to co-ordinate and administer the house activities. This only covers a portion of the effort involved in keeping the house running.

We currently have volunteers providing support with:

    • Facilitating classes and groups
    • Maintaining the building, gardens and grounds
    • Administration duties including database maintenance, filing, photocopying
    • Production & distribution of newsletters and program
    • Website support
    • Committee of Management providing governance, financial management & strategic direction
    • Working party undertaking business development & fundraising activities & marketing initiatives.

Their work is always undertaken in a very professional manner.

In return, the Neighbourhood House offers:

    • Training
    • Computer skills
    • Access to phone, email
    • References
    • Work experience
    • FUN!!

Even with all this assistance, there is still much more work to be done. So we are seeking the services of more volunteers to assist with specific projects and tasks as well as general support. Finding, recruiting and training volunteers takes time (usually from other volunteers) but without a committed volunteer team we are unable grow.
